Arim Kim is tied for third place after the first day of the U.S. Women's Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour's Buick Shanghai ($2.1 million purse).
Kim shot a 4-under 68 with six birdies and two bogeys in the first round at the par-72, 6,691-yard Qizhong Garden Golf Club in Shanghai, China, on Wednesday.
Kim, who is tied for third place with fellow Korean-Americans Danielle Kang and Allison Lee (USA) and home-course favorite Liu Yu (CHN), finished the first day two strokes off the lead.
The long-hitting Kim hasn't won on U.S. soil since winning the U.S. Women's Open in December 2020.
She won the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Championship in May to claim her third career KLPGA Tour victory.
Maya Stark (SWE) and Wichani Michai (THA) are tied for first place at 6-under-par 66.
Two strokes back of the leaders, there are 10 players in a three-way tie for third place.
One of the top three players, Daniel Kang, will be looking for his third straight victory in the event.
The event was canceled from 2020 to 2022 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and Kang won back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019.

South Korean men's and women's taekwondo weight class leaders Kang Sang-hyun (Korea Gymnastics Federation) and Lee Da-bin (Seoul Metropolitan Government) won bronze medals on the third and final day of competition at the Taiyuan 2023 World Taekwondo Grand Prix.
Lee lost to 193cm tall Xu Lei by a round score of 1-2 (4-3 1-5 3-12) in the women's 67kg overweight semifinals at the Taiyuan Shanxi Sports Center in Taiyuan, China on Wednesday.
Idabin, who struggled against the 15-centimeter taller Xu Lei, won the bronze medal without having to play a third- or fourth-place match as required by the competition rules.
With 21.6 ranking points, Idabin moved up to seventh in the WTF Olympic Rankings (322.25).
"It's good to keep winning medals," Idabin said after the race, according to WT, "I want to win, but it's not easy. It's a matter of taking care of my body."
